View Full Version : Anatomy Thread of Khannalxy'tys part 2
Khannalxy'tys 10-28-2009, 01:49 PM Hi everyone,
After a long hiatus of having to go through one of those excruciatingly tiresome regular jobs (full time too) i'm back to the art world trying to get back to my 2d and 3D training. Hope it's not too late.
Anyways, I did this with no reference (except for one) to see if I could put together a body with no visual aid.
C&C more than welcome.
As a disclaimer: I'm trying to find the proportions I want for a character, which is why some of those bodies have broader chests and narrower waists than normal. But I still haven't gotten there :/
Here goes:

Here's another update for today.
An attempt at head studies (which are something I usually never try. Thought I'd get the body down first and then go up to the head. Now even the oval shape seems misplaced. Funny how only after taking a break - sleeping and waking up in my case - and not looking at your study you can tell it's going in the wrong direction).
These were done while studying Burne Hogarth's books.

And now back to some body practice. These are in perspective. The previous bodies weren't because I wanted to come up with a concept for a front view to model in 3D.

Another small update.
I was amazed at how difficult drawing heads from underneath is. I completely lose track of what i'm doing. Even with the original right in front of me.

I'm thinking about switching to a mechanical pencil though. I'm using a 6b pencil (faber-castell) to draw these but I have to stop every few minutes to sharpen it.

More updates.
A small upper limb study, similar to what I did a while ago but forgot all about it :) Too bad it's not like riding a bike. If you stop drawing, you forget what you were studying. At least I did.

And the beginning of a boy I found in a magazine.

Something's happening to my scanner though. It's leaving weird rectangular marks on the file.

And yet another update:
More arms studies. I want to get them crystallized. Not quite there yet.

Thanks andrew, I appreciate that.
Nice Altair by the way. Liked the outfit a lot. Was done only with XSI? No sculpting?
