hey guys,

so this is a really rough sketch. just started on this tonight. Anyways, the feeling I need to create for this character is an early first generation space soldier. I am going for something like...the first people to be in combat in space. anyways, there are obviously soooo many parameters to this and I dont expect to get it right or anything. But if you have any fun ideas, or critiques along the way I would love to hear them! Thanks! :)

also, i finished the last painting I posted up here...check out the final at http://brownie3703.cgsociety.org (http://brownie3703.cgsociety.org/)

okay, so here is the space dude!

OKay, dont you love how after you watch a movie you always find a ton of motivation to go work on a personal project. haha. Anyways, i havent worked much on this but I thought I would add a zippo lighter before I hit the sack.

Anyways, what kind of background should it be? A battlefield aftermath or a pre-battle feeling like in a hanger....? i dont know. Whatever...who ever says something first...I will do that. haha.

Well, his uniform is clean, no bloodstains, no tears, etc, so I would say pre-battle, however I get the feeling from the lighting of the cigarette, and his posture, that he just got done fighting, so it's hard to say. As for the background it's also hard to say. Looking at his uniform I feel like he's a pilot, but he's armed like a regular joe. If this were my piece, I would put him at an enemy CP that he and his squad just captured. I would put some bloodstains on his uniform, maybe bandage his smoking hand (haha). This guy's a loner. I would show some of his squad members shooting the s*** in the background, maybe they've cleaned up after themselves and piled up the bodies of their enemies. This guy just finds a nice wall to lean on and smoke until they get their next mission.
