Hello, i am trying to set up a scene with a emitter that create instances of objects that move on a displaced poly.

I got a subdivised poly with a displacement map that is the dune
I did a set up walking camel that i must clone in order to make a caravane then a bunch of camels
and a emitter of particles to replicate the camels..
i tried applied the diplacement map to the camel traject but have problems with it
and the clone thing dont work properly.
i used fx linker.
i did the same map dispacement deformation than the dunes to get the proxy running on the floor (dunes) the fx_linker works ok for the cloning as i use a proxy picker to replace the poly by the camel but i cannot get the move done by the textured displacement.. as i replace one by the other it loses the displacement propriety.
I tried to bake the motion too but it only get the linear movement , not the displaced one..
Did i missed something? or has someone has a other way to make this?

I dont quite understand what you are doing exactly. Particles will not displace. You might try using Sticky under the Motion Options, or apply Textured Motion to the Y motion of your camels. But both of these options must be applied to each individual camel. HD Instance is the only plugin to allow instancing in LW for renders like this- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udMHB-BbwB4

i tried hd instance but it gave me lighting problems, models take the light or not with on a render, the next one the are shaded correctly.., and in animation it does the same image by image

Well, apparently HD Instanc DOES work as witnessed in Mr. Rid's YouTube video. Are you using the latest version? Which I believe is 2.0.8.

HD Instance should work. I dont know what specific problems you may have experienced, but they were probably setup problems (networked machines with different configs maybe), and not a problem with the software. BTW, if you enable radiosity with instancing, be sure to also anable Volumetric Radiosity in the render globals. But even if you have an older HDI version it should work in LW 9.6 and it is definitely the best way to make a herd, swarm, crowd, etc.

MrRid is right, better off with HD instance.
Problem with rendering on and off, you can overcome mostly (for me) by bumping the memory allocated for HD instance by 4 times or more, depends on the instance numbers
