View Full Version : Beginner question: How do you increase the shadow resolution?
When I render in Modo, I get these pixelated shadows, everything else is sharp. How can I change that?
Thanks a lot!

You could try increasing the Samples value of your emitters and/or increasing your antialiasing samples per pixel value and perhaps change the antialiasing filtertype. Or a combination of them all.

Thanks for your help!
I tried to change the Radius of the Spot Light (from top) to nonzero and increase the sample number but I see no change. "Simple Shading" on/off doesn't help either.
I changed Shader Tree > Render > Antialisaing from 8 to 256 Samples/Pixel, no improvement. Reflection Depth or any of the other fields under Render also don't seem to affect it. I also tried all the types of Antialiasing.

Are you using ray traced shadows, or a shadow map? If it's the former, it's possible that what you're seeing is geometry. Try increase the subdivision level for the affected geometry.
