Here i have put together a pair of headphones more or less as a modeling excersise (sp check on that). Photorealism wasn't entirely my goal although would have been nice to get. I'm pleased with the results. I shortchanged a few of the parts..laziness started kicking in.

A total of 3hrs was spent on it.

Software: Cinema 4d
Textures: Cinema 4d

Some say the DOF was/is a bit much, but i feel it adds a nice touch to the picture. Here is the first one without DOF.

And a wire:

C & C would be very nice!

I guess i forgot something rather important. Lights. I also added mad antialiasing.

C & C on the model, texturing, lighting, everything please!

the model is good, but the materials could use some more work, especially the black material where you have yor ears..

Lookin good superfly. Looks like the interior of the headphones needs a bit of modeling work and you might want to kick those hypernurbs up a bit but hey, It's a great start! I didn't realize you were a fellow C4D'r. I'm not sure if it was you who asked on my post about the hammered copper texture but it's not simtiont (I have a mac) it's pure SLA -- 3d_e

One more thing. Are those bend deformers on the cord? You know, there's a much easier way to do that. ;) -- 3d_e

I like those very much. There might be some place left for improvements-mostly on the material of the part that covers the ear and some more polys or a higher value on your Hypernurbs might fit good to them.( you still can see that it isnīt completely circular. But overall it came out nicely I think.
And I am glad to see more and more Cinema 4D artists in here!
Keep up the good work!

Due to my computers power, i can't really add anymore polygons. It just can't handle it. I use a 600mghz 512SDRAM, and a 8500 Radeon...although in a few days i'll be getting my 2.8ghz in.

Any comments on the DOF in the pictures?

3d_Explorer: For the cord, they're not bend deformers, its simply an FFD with a good bit of control points so that i can easily curve it anyway i want. But what was the way you were thinking?

Tora_2097: Thanks a bunch for the compliment. I guess not many enjoy my texture. ;) And its always good to see more C4d users, after all, it is the best app.

I did an older pair, less complex type of headphones that i believe had a good leather material: I'm thinking about using this material, yes or no?

Haha, no, i don't. I'm just sorta new so modeling headphones is a good way for me to practice. I've been using C4D for only about 7 months learning on my own. Its tough. I did have a class, though we used rhino...i'm only 16, give a break bro! haha  So in short, its a way for me to learn because i feel that there are alot of aspects to pay attention to. And yea, i'll try that texture. :p

I don't have any comments on the model. But I would get rid of the DOF in this shot, it works great when you are trying to pull attention to a specific part of your image, but it's unnecessary here, and in fact detracts from my enjoyment of viewing your model.

I like the feel and composition of the other headphones you did. You've pulled the camera out enough for us not to feel claustrophobic (with our faces jammed right up on the thing) and since there's no DOF in that shot we are allowed to look at the whole thing without running into blurriness.

So, unless you have a specific reason for using DOF (as in, don't look at this, look at that, or making something in the extreme foreground not detract from stuff further away) you should just leave it out entirely.

Oh, and a question: are those ear pads supposed to be all one piece, even in the center? It looks funny that way, but if the original was designed like that I guess there's not much you can do.

Sorry, almost forgot to address the lighting. I like the light placement so far, but I would add a rimlight (or two) to really make the dark edges pop. And is it just me, or are the cast shadows from the ear things way larger than they should be? Do you have the light really close to the model or something? If so, pull that away, try to imagine where a desk lamp or something would be positioned relative to the model.

BTW: I thought C&C was supposed to be done in the WIP and Focused Critiques forums, not in the Finished Work gallery?

Jellyfish: I agree with you on everything. :) Thanks for all the feedback and next time i'll send these kind of things to the WIP forum. Although, what's a rimlight? Thanks and thanks to everyone else.
