orangefisk 08-14-2003, 11:50 AM Hello people!
I'm currently working on this male head, and I just can't get the proportions right... Any suggestions?

hey kev:wavey:
not seen your work around in a while, maybe thats cos i've been in australia. anyway, as usual i think the basic modelling is well made but i agree that the proportions seem a little off somehow. can't quite put my finger on it. The ears seem a little far around the back of the head but i'm not sure thats a major problem. are you using any reference?
good work anyway.
Cheers, Phil:)

Heya!
Scaled the head down a bit - seems like the proportions are better now. What do you think?

Pretty good, but the eyes seem to bug out too much. Also the upper part of the bridge of the nose sems to wide.No real big issues, but just what I see.Still decent work.

Very nice!, he has a lot of character in his face :)
Some areas that could be improved:
The skull shape looks "sheared" to the back of the head, if you're familiar with the 3D shear tool. I think the reason for this is that you head looks tilted back creating that odd angled shape. I would suggest taking his head and turning it forward so the forehead and chin more or less line up vertically. From that position you should be able to select his face, which will be looking downish after the rotation, and rotate it forward. This should, I hope , help set things up more realistically. You may also need to bring his ear forward as it maybe slightly too far back. Additionally, once his features are aligned more accurately you may want to work on his nose shape as it currently appears very flat. Most male faces have fairly large noses... to some degree.
Hope this get you on the right track.
Cheers

I tried rotating the front of the head + moving it a bit upwards,
what do you think?

I think its mainly the eyes they seam to small and so is the front of your head, I believe the head is on average 5 eyes wide making your model nearly a whole eye shy, Bridge of his nose is also a lil squashed and wide but I guess he has that boxer look so it works?
Over all the model is ACE

Hello
Well here's my comments:
I think the ears are too far back and need to be brought closer forward. The bulge above his eyes are too extreme and usually the forehead tilts back at an angle. Yours is going straight up.
