CGTalk - Vue 8 test renders

Recently I've been playing around with the Vue 8 beta, and I have to say I'm impressed! Lot's of neat new features including the new Strata filters, displacement map overhangs and super God Rays. There seems to be a certain crispness I haven't seen before for the landscape fractals-- sorta reminds me of Terragen renders. Here are a few of the test images. If you're on the fence about upgrading, maybe these will help you with the decision. ;-)

Looks nice ! Love the volume light.

The trees still look bad up close though.

A new filter type which you can apply to any fractal or noise in terrains, displacement maps, materials, just about anywhere. Creates some very nice stratified rock formations in the above renders.

Here's another example of the Strata Terrain fractal filter. What's cool about it is that you can apply it to any type of fractal or noise in Vue to create strata layers. Very easy to use and produces some remarkable results.

Chipp, how were you able to get smooth strata "walls" in some parts and noisy ones on other parts?
