Hey 3D_Explorer.
I like this render you have here. The modeling is good as well as the textures and the poses seem to look real enough. My only thought is that, well, these robots just don't look the fighting type IMO. They just don't appear to be "created" for combat.
On the last note, perhaps you could create a better enviroment for the characters...something that would promote your intention or show alittle bit more of the character. Maybe have them in a high-tech city plaza or something, ya know what i mean? Perhaps it could help set the mood more. Now, now, all my opinion. :)
Good job and good luck! Shame noone else has replied.

Thanks, I guess that's the chance you take when you put your neck on the chopping block here. I appreciate your feedback very much. I've tried a couple of times here with little or no success to get some noise on my renders. I'm to the point now where I just need to realize that it's either a popularity contest here and I'm not in the "in" crowd or I just suck. Thanks again. -- 3d_e

 I like it! Very clean and stylish. (is that Simbiont Beaten copper, btw?)
I have to agree with Superfly about the bots being slightly "out of character" so to speak though. They look rather like a friendly type of bot. But that aside, it looks good!

Well, alot of the people here only reply to those in "popularity" unfortunately, thus, the people that really need/want the comments are left aside. It just seems people say to themselves, "meh, someone else will reply". I guess that's the chance you take on the forum. But keep at it, you've got great talent and all things come in time.
EDIT: Not to knit pick or anything...but the soldier on OUR left..his RIGHT arm seems that the spring is off?

Thanks for the encouragement superfly, means alot. And nitpick away, that's why I posted it. Not to just hear "Man, this is f*in awesome!" Constructive critique ALWAYS welcome. Also, I fixed that spring and forgot to upload the fix. Here it is. Also, reworked the lights a bit.

Also, working on some other things so may upload yet ANOTHER render later.

Anytime. I'm new here too. The lighting seems to promote alittle more of the scene's background, like this pic much better.
BTW: I like the little robot near the ground. He's a pretty straight character, kinda cute too.

Looks really good
I think that the sort of 50's retro-style of the robots is perfect.
Only thing I would suggest changing is the angle of the hover-bot, right now its like 'he' is fasinated with the end of the staff.
Nice image. The design kind of reminds me of the soldier robots in the old disney 'Black Hole' movie. I like the beaten copper look of the main guys,
my only crit would be the texture used on the staffs and the floating mini bot kind of has the default phong plastic look.

It's been difficult keeping up with all the dynamite suggestions you guys had. Here is the latest and possibly final version of this. There are some things that I didn't change because, well, I just liked it better my way. :p I've dirtied them up a bit and added some glow from the weapons. I've also changed the poses to hopefully make them a bit more dynamic. Thanks everyone! -- 3d_e

Rock-em-sock-em Robots from the 60's, I love it! The poses, lighting, and textures are excellent!
The only problem I have is with their rods. The very least they should be thicker where the left hand grasps them. I see you are going for an "simple energy type" weapon. I would actually just lose the fat side and make the top the same as the bottom you have. That probably doesn't make sense, just make it look like a long stick with blunt light tips on the end. Perhaps make the center skinnier so it can be spun easy with one hand if needed.
The background wall is also a bit lacking as others have said. I really like the ground though, even though I can't figure out what it is. It almost feels like they are guarding something, I would put that in the background. The background resembles rock, I would just carve an entrance built into the rock for a quick fix.
This would tie all the elements of your pictures together. The small bot could be reporting back to the big bots. The hot headed orange bot would want to go do something about it, but the smarter red bot woudl advise them they have a job to do and wait here. It would give the image some continuity.
Don't misunderstand my crits though, your model is quite good. Your picture is very solid, and with a little polish will be above average. Good luck to you!

Ahh..this new update is much nicer. Very well done. And i agree with deathcricket in a lot of aspects, some less than others, but i think you should continue the piece. It could very well turn out awesome. But great job on this work. Keep it up mate.

I like the new pics. One thing: The sillouette of the two robots doesn't read very well. Maybe if you rotated the camera to the left a little it would be easier to see what the robot on the left is doing with his arm.
