View Full Version : light dots in my scene rendering with mental ray
arqprot 10-20-2009, 08:17 PM Hello everybody I have a problem with my scene I have light dots in some areas of my scenes, I'v tried changing the uwv maps, setting more samples in each photometric light at the shadow map parameters, tried also more rays per FG points, but nothing helps. I tried wiht the same light in another scene, with diferent materials, and perfect, so it's probably not the light, but also I change the materials, and it didn't wokr, I tried setting the light to raytraced maps, but didn't work. I'm new in these forum so I don't know how to insert a picture here, and I don't have a web page, so I'm going to described it. Starting from the middle of the picture down, it has like a noise, it looks like the upper part of the picture was taken under a 100 iso, and the other part with a 800 iso or even less, it looks really grainy, and I'm clueless about what can be the problem here.
Thanks

Asking us to debug your render without showing us a picture is going to get you nowhere.

I have tons of renders of these scene I just don't know how to put it in the forum, if you can help me, I can put some of them.
By the way I was cheking if maybe it has something to do with the mr sky parameters, maybe the blur of the horizon, but no,..it does make some diference from the haze sky to the CIE sky.
Thanks

Since I had no useful answer for my thread, I keep trying to fix the problem, and I think I did it. If anybody is having some trouble similar to mine, these is what I did, and it seems to have fixed the problem: I had all my free photometric lights set to uniform diffuse, once I changed these parameter to uniform spherical, the dots where gone.
I can still see the dots while it's computing the final gather points, but after the rendering process was complete there were almost no more dots, you can decided for yourselves, I figure out how to attach picture in here.
I was wondering if it may have anything to do, with my memory ram capacity,..I'm just clueless about why it worked
By he way the scene it's really basic, I'm just doing some tests for a design in it.
