View Full Version : Bones rotated slightly on their z-axis?
Hookflash 08-14-2003, 01:55 AM I've noticed that when I'm placing bones, they're always rotated slightly on their z-axis. In other words, the roll handle is never quite perpendicular to the view plane (if that makes sense). Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me? I'm getting sick of having to set z-rotate to 0 every time I place a bone (well, I guess I don't *have to*). I'm using A:M 10.5e, but I've noticed this since 9.x. Thanks

It depends on how you lay the bone in. but since i adjust the roll handle off default 80-90% of the time anyway it really isn't much of an issue for me. :shrug:
But I can and do draw bones with roll handles placed at 0 pretty consistently.

Well I looked at it trying to see what I was doing and.. well I'll be darned if I can figure out what I might do different one time and get the handle at 0 compared to one when the handle comes in at an angle.
The best i can figure is that when the bone is laid in straight along an axis the roll handle is less likely to be off than if it is set down at an angle in the view.... if that makes any sense.
I thought maybe it had to do with the parent bone's orientation but experimentation showed little correlation between the two... so I'm afraid that this is just one of those things I'm going to have to say "beats the heck out of me" on could be the way I stick my tongue out as I draw bones in.
