hey there,

i cant seem to find a cut or knife tool to freely cut new edges into the mesh. (like the knife in silo or max)

where is it hidden?

Press 'C' to activate the tool. Make sure you don't have any verts, edges, or faces preselected though otherwise it will only work on those.
