View Full Version : Time Stamp Render Effect 3d max
redfox 08-13-2003, 10:10 PM I been looking for a good Time Stamp Render Effect for 3d max. This is the timecode that runs at the bottom of a shot. The one that comes with max is ok but one that would have: frame count; SMPTE; FPS; and one that would show you the background image name, all in one shot. This would all help when turning in files to editors.
If anyone know were this plug-in could be found? I dont understand scripting very well.

you could try this one, I can't test it here so I have no idea if it works above Max3...

This is something I am looking for. We do alot of previs animations. Under render effects it would be a window to put some information in for :
"NAME OF SHOT AND/OR SHOW"
[ SHOT VERSION NUMBER ] - [ FPS ]
[ MISC INFORMATION ]
And then it would be printed on the shot like the image I included. I could just learn scripting LOL. Mabey that not a bad idea

obviously an alternative would be creating objects and binding them to the camera... script would be nicer -- let us know if you find/make it.

Hi !
Has this problem already been solved by anyone ?
As I am in need for something similar myself I did some research on the web and I could not find anything apropriate. Bobo's scripted solution is working, but I like to choose the font myself. I found out that this is not possible with MAXScript as well as calculating the time to render the frame. I am thinking about programming this effect now as a render effect plugin. I have got a very early alpha of this plugin running already (see image)... uhhhhh, it sux when you have to deal with all that message sending and windowing stuff. Quite a big step for me as I am only used to script programming...
anyway, it prints the information (filename, Time Values, Resolution etc.) in the bottom part of the image. I am working now on custom font face and size selection and I am thinking about implementing a custom string where you can choose what you want to have in there and what not. Calculating the duration for rendering is not working yet as I still do not know which functions are responsible for that (this is a hardcoded value in the image).
Please tell me if you are still interested in this plugin, maybe I can get a little more motivation from knowing that it won't be of no interest to the community. :-)))
