Hello
i am very new in computer hardware. Since i have been spending so much money on workstations, i just decided to build myself and learn more about it.
I configured somes parts to build core i7 machine with core i7-920 2.66ghz, but just got to know more about the i7-860 2.8ghz. would you please tell me which one is better for 3d and motion? i know 2.8ghz faster but with dual channel memory support(?) and i7-920 is triple channel...would these matter? which ones do you guys prefer??

thanks

Go with the i7 920. He is faster (even he has just 2.66GHz), there are more overclocking possibilities and it is socket 1366, so you could upgrade in the future to i7 975 when the prices for them will drop down. When reselling the i7 920 you would probably get more money back as for an i7 860.

with the old sockets triple channel slots you can use up to 12gb ram, which is cooler than 8gb.

in theory you can also use 24/16gb ram, but 4 gb modules are rare and mad expensive.
