hello guys, this is my first try at digital paint, hope you guys give me some crits, its my girlfriend and I am thinking of giving it to her.

it looks a little bit like you just traced the original photograph and painted over it, probably due to where the sharp lines are and where they are not.

I would say tighten up the lines around the eyes.
pick a focal point, and make that your sharpest section with the most contrast.
