View Full Version : How to add realism to eyes?

I've been studying some of Francisco Cortina's work lately, and I've noticed he adds a small detail to the eyes that gives it that final "wet" look. Does anyone know how this liquid is created? Is a separate mesh, texturing, or some combo of both? And what about animation? If he's using a texture, it's no big deal; but if it's a mesh, how do you make it look right when the eye moves and/or blinks?

Anyone have any ideas?

Here's a pic demonstrating what I'm talking about:

Copyright Francisco Cortina and probably the company he created this for... :)

I was thinking ths could also be used in smile where the saliva gathers around the teeth.

I think it' s a strip of mesh. That's how I did mine. I don't know about the blinking I haven't tried that yet.

Syomka had a great thread on photo realistic eyes. (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26109&perpage=15&highlight=tear%20line&pagenumber=1)
