I've been contacted by a company already by mail. They asked for a test, Model a Tiger I tank with 2500 polys max and texture it. After that they contacted me by email to say I continue in the process of selection.

They put a list of models as the first part of the job. Well, in the mail they say it is for a game more or less in the line of C&C or Blitzkreig or .....the hell, so the models really don't hve to be that detailed.

The fact, and here a appeal to the community sense of these forums, I need advice.

They say that probably the job will be FREELANCE like, and they ask for a budget and a time chart to see how much and how long will it take us to do 26 units (varing from tanks to jeeps...).

- How much is "normal" for a model with this features?
- How long in time is "normal" also?

THANKS IN ADVANCE TO EVERYONE WHO ANSWERS.

And, almost forgot the image, here is the tnk I did for the first part of the selection.

The ingame models should be about 800 polys the most complex.

Whats your question exactly, It's not clearly stated.

- How much is "normal" for a model with this features?
What are the features? What texure size, How many textures? Do they have to be animated? What is the polycount? Should all 26 units be 800 poly's? How fast do you work? Are you good at textures?

I think you have to decide for yourself how long you will work on model and give them an average based on that. If youre not sure, model one and multiply the time you spend on that model times 26. Be sure to calculate some margin as they will probably make you redo some things a few times.

- How long in time is "normal" also?

Depends on the level of detail I would say, and your abilities. I would say anywhere between 4-8 hours on a average detail model. Depending on you texture library's, simililarities between model (recycling of car-tyres for example) etc. etc.

Hopes this helps a bit.

Thanks, it really helped.

And for the features, the aren't that clear, if they where I'd have put them. The only thing they gave us was a list with a lot of names of vehicles from the second world war and a mark in each of the 26. No Photos, no ref. Pics or drawings. Nothing more than a link to a game and the poly count was a supposal, that's why I didn't wrote it ( I thought about 800 polys the most detailed ones)

But the 4-8h per model was more or less what I thought.

I didn't mention, but the final job will be more than 200 vehicles.

No prob, those final 200 models will keep you busy for some time too come. Good luck and keep us posted!
