can anybody suggest a good rigging setup to sort out shoulder movement?

cs or bones? all i would say really for either is to work on your envelopes

I have the upper arm bone parented to the clavicle, but I'd like to hear suggestions as to the simplest and best way to control it.
I'm considering two options:
- control the rotations by orient constraining the clavicle to a null controller or perhaps sliders/custom attrs.
- control the rotations by adding an IK chain from the clavicle to the upper arm
I'm just trying to figure out which would be easiest to animate naturally, and with an good fine tuning of the f-curves.
It's for a games skeleton that it's going to be reused a lot across different characters, so I want to achieve the simplest and most functional setup for the team of animators.
I'd like to hear how you guys have approached this issue in your projects.
