Hi there,

I live in Europe (Norway) but my brother-in-law travels to the US every so often as part of his job to check up on some production plants onver there. I'm considering asking him to pick up a Wacom Cintiq 12WX (the tablet model with a nifty integrated screen). It's not strictly need to have since my current Wacom works just fint .. on the other hand it seems like a really nice toy and I like the idea of being able to rotate it in my lap. Anyway, these gadgets are pricey here in Norway, and with the US dollar currently taking the dive, there is a lot of money to save by picking it up in the US.

I realize that this Wacom may not be as easy to come by as, say, a common IPhone. And I don't want to send my in-law on some wild goose chase around town.

So here is my question: Is there any retail chain or store that I could reasonably expect to stock this item? Or would I need to call them in advance to make them order one? Should I try to obtain it at some consumer electronics general store or at some special niche store? Or should I just order it on the internet and have it delivered to the guys that my in-laws are meeting up with? Any ideas or recommendations?

I have seen BestBuy carry them in the US, but it's hard to come by on a regular basis.
I would suggest you check where he's going and see if any BestBuy's around there carry them in stock. The only other suggestion I can give you is to order it online through educational stores or amazon, if he's there long enough.

http://www.wacom.com/wheretobuy/

I got mine in NY for half the price as UK ( ok - pre bank crash ) at
http://tekserve.com/products/index.php?mfg=wacom m

Few things:
The calibration is slightly off toward the bottom which is a problem apparently and the screen is not the brightest.

Resolution is not great.

A 14-15" with 1600x1200 would be better.

but ... Wacom don't seem to update very often
