Made for the Assembly 2003 freestyle gfx contest .. Finished 7th. Over a year old model with just a few new holes cut out with a transparency map and some internal structures built to show. Composited over a photo and color-tuned in PS.

its nice, i like the atmosphere in this picture, but there's something weird looking. cant figure out what..
maybe its the background plate thats too real for the plane. or the other way around. maybe its the shadows. i cant see any shadows on the plants under the wings, especially the back wing and tail. also the propellor that points up should have some shadow, looks like its pasted on.
hmmm the lighting is also a bit off, the foreground just rules but the background of the forest has more white light, but the plane has more yellow and green lighting.
well it doesnt mean i dont like the picture. i do
very good work.

i think the plane needs grain added to match the back plate. also the shadows from the propeller as mentioned, and shadows from the trees on the plane.
really like the model and the composition, little more work and it'll rock!

Thanks for the constructive comments! I'm not sure I'll work on this any time soon as I'm already working on another project but after that I'll rework this pic.
Cheers, Ilari
the looks are great but what makes it look weird in my opinion, is the fact that the planes basic structure is still intact (right wing) an there is one tree next to another and I don't see a possibility it could have gone down there without being hacked up, maybe make some of the trees in the background damaged too, dunno really
