View Full Version : Exporting/importing anim from Maya to LW?

I've heard of companies (Digital Domain) for one, modeling/texturing in Lightwave, then exporting to Maya for rigging/animation, then bringing back to LW for rendering. How is this done? Is there a special (I'm assuming something in-house) app or plug in?

I'm interested mostly in how the animation gets carried over. I mean, moving verts/points in 3d space are moving verts/points in 3d space with a common XYZ coordinate system- but that sort of info isn't saved in an .obj file...

There's always Kaydara you could try:

or you could give the Maya2LW project a go:

If you do a search in this forum, you will find multiple threads about this topic...

Here's another option and the one I'm using for my current short.
