Hi,
Ok, I got one idea, not sure if this ok though.. it is a very old man that has a body of a baby... or baby that has the head of the old man.. hehe...hmm... sounds odd.
Well I prefer the first one.. old man with a baby body.
Think about the wise man about 100 years old, but who looks like a baby :)
Hope there is not any baby things or similar already.. if so I have to think some other ideas.
Well let me know what you think..
I made some sketches...

Yeah i think this is cool, give him a cigar. I like to see babies smoking cigar's. Perhaps he runs the show and is the Boss man.

Ok, time to send some pics...
I wont send my final sketches yet, because ..er.. I dont have the finals yet :)
I started to model the head and well... seems to be very hard thing to do .. heh at least for me. This is my first head model ever.
The most hardest thing is to get the face to look the same as the drawings... :) well .. this is only the begining I still got plenty of time. (wish wish wish)
ok here are some pics how Im doing so far..

I still need to work alot with this face, it doesn't look like the one I draw but well I wish I get it close :)
I need to get it to look mean little old man... now it looks just very bored and lazy :)

You're doing great here, just keep it up. Particularly if it's your first head model, then - wow! You've got the major features of the face down, the rest is just tweaking. And the ears of course... I never did like making ears myself... I wish you luck!

Update...
Damn! ears were really hard and annoying thing to model.
Still gotta shape them up, but here is the pic.

I've been modelling the body now but also started to play with materials...
http://www.jsaarinen.com/sideshow/materialtest1.jpg
I will remove the hair and also have to model the eyes in a right way.. now they are just spheres. Also the material for the eyes is not right.. this guy is looking too sad now.. and that hair makes him look too young :)
back soon with the body pics..

Looks great - can't wait to see a baby body sticking to that head... Weird it will be...

i think u should enlarge the ears, nose and brows as they tend to be bigger on older folks, that would help make him look older int he face. very cool idea the sketches r almost scary, the 1st one is great it looks like hes jsut learning to stand.
o just thought of something else, even tho the bady looks young hes still old so the whole body could be covered in liver spots, and have many wrinkles, just in a tighter package.

Yes indeed, I thought about the ears earlier, have not done that though. I thought it would look weirder if he has a babys face structure, but only a skin or look of it is old. As you can see in those sketches I think the little ear works pretty good.
..but you are right.. I need to make them bigger. It wont work that well in 3D.
Still modelling some wrinkles and other details and will also shape the nose and brows.
Also removed the hair and now it looks a lot older.
hmm ..liverspots could be good idea.. have to test that.
Thanks for tips Louman

What do you think about tattoos.. are they suitable in 1800 century? Well at least different tribes used them... hmm..
Made the eyes look a bit reddish and the left eye (from my eyes)
has a cataract developing in it. Added some liver spots..
DAMN forget the bigger ears..
EDIT: added one image...made the tattoo more blue/black.. how does it look now?
JamesMK

Excellent! Very very good!
Only one thing to change - the tatoo should be less saturated and sort of a blueish-black color.
Pufferfish
08-19-2003, 08:37 PM
yep totally agree about the tattoo..will change it..:wip:
EDIT : changed the tattoo...look ^^^^^

Yes, exactly! Now break it up a bit in some places, like the ink hasn't penetrated certain areas as much as it should. Erase it with a grungebrush, low opacity... Do it now.
Pufferfish
08-19-2003, 09:51 PM
Ok did it ... Hope I did not over do it :)

Really great. The only thing that doesn't work is the transition from head to body. Other that than - very good.

Yep, there is still lots of tweaking to do.. I will also add more details after I finnish the legs.. then I start to modify the symmetry issue.
