I'm playing with particle flow and can't think of a way to smoothly scale up particles over time. I've got some age tests that pass on to the next event which makes the particles bigger. But to get a smooth scaleup I'd have to have a stoopid number of events.

And while I'm on particle flow.... I can't seem to be able to get raytraced materials to be able to cast a raytraced shadow of the particles. Anyone got any ideas? When I assign a normal material, if works fine, just not with a raytraced material. It has falloff in the transparency so I should be getting nice edgey shadows.

personally, if you need any help with pflow, then I'd post questions in the pflow topic of the Discreet WebBoard, Oleg the programmer oftens answers questions there as do other experienced pflow users.

I dont' know why the raytrace material doesn't work, but to scale particles over time you can just use the Scale Operator. There is an option in there called "Relative Succesive". I don't know the other names (haven't used pflow for a while), but just play around with this setting and you're set

good luck!
