I like the semi translucence you have in the upper body but I think it might look better if you could carry this more into the mid section ( abdomen ? ).
Texture idea's look good though.

Nice translucence feel. Very cool! Maybe more detail worked out around the eyes/head? More uniform ribbing in the stomach area maybe?

I would like to see the edges cleaned up and a focal point defined and enhanced through greater contrast and detail.
I like the body as a character design concept, however, in that case, I wouldn't want to see it on a strong black background. on a strong dark background I would love to see this same creature in a more dynamic pose, something that offered movement/weight. right now it is a specimen pinned to a wall, a fine specimen, but lifeless.
I think some more detail and cleaner brush strokes could really pop some life out of this.
