View Full Version : New EIAS group on LinkedIn
scott8933 10-12-2009, 12:20 AM Hi all,
I've started an EIAS group on LinkedIn:
http://www.linkedin.com/e/vgh/2379067/eml-grp-sub/
Its there to cover anything EI, but I'd like to focus on employment opportunities. Other topics are well represented here and at the EITG site's forum, and I don't see any need to split that up. The LinkedIn group, in keeping with the purpose of LinkedIn, will be to announce any help-wanted ads or ad sightings, freelance work, help-wanted, looking for work, etc.
And of course, a public stamp of support for EIAS!
Everybody's welcome to join - hope to see it get EI some well-deserved publicity and support.
Suggestions encouraged too.
Thanks!
-Scott

Stupendous. This is what is really needed for growth. Practical Application.

I've been surprised by the response so far - considering its late afternoon on a Sunday here in the States. I hope we can keep up the momentum. As far as I'm concerned, its great free publicity for EI, plus a PUBLIC showing of support by its users that the rest of the world can see.
Lets all keep it going!

Well the nice thing about you running such a "practical" for working professionals Scott, is that you practice what you preach. I have worked for you by commission. You walk the walk.
Actually the other day I posted something with relevance to actual work logistics and pricing.
It will be good to approach the business aspects of the business for a change.
Also, occasional I need help, it's great to have access to a EI based talent pool.

Thank you Alonzo, I appreciate that;
One thing I know I'm probably going to get by using a fellow EI artist - there are so few of us left, its almost a guarantee that they'll know what they're doing. You just don't see too many "entry level" EI guys any more. This kind of sad, because it means there aren't too many new customers out there. But on the plus side, I always feel pretty confident hiring another EI guy. When I've gone with a Lightwave or Maya person, especially a new artist I'm not familiar with, its always a little nerve-wracking. I've had some wicked failures before, where the freelancer just couldn't deliver the goods. Don't even get me started on the highly variable quality of Cinema people... some are amazing. Some are disasters. Sometimes both turn out to be the same person!
In your case, Alonzo, you delivered and then some. I've hired a few others over the years - my memory is hazy - but every time I've been very happy with the work.
Even Troxel - another stellar example. I think we pretty much beat him to death on our World Trade Center project, but that came out just beautifully. Which reminds me, I've got some recommendations to write... (also, embarrassingly, I still owe him the final quicktimes from that job which was like 6 years ago now). At least you guys all know my checks don't bounce!
