Hey all, I have a hopefully quick question. Here it is:

Everytime I export anything from motionbuilder, it adds a "Model:" prefix onto the name of every single bone. So when I try and import it onto the maya model I originally made it from the names don't line up. How do I get rid of this stupid prefix on export. You'd think there'd be a nice "Do not add dumb prefix" button but I can't find it. Thanks!

Alternatively, is there a way to make motionbuilder handle models? When I import my maya file, the model node appears as just a red node in the Schematic view and doesn't appear in the viewport. And when I export back out of motionbuilder, and re-import back into maya it's just a totally blank node. Any help would be very much appreciated, as I am new to this program.

To remove the prefix, go to schematic view (ctrl+w in the viewport) , RMB on the root node in the hierarchy and click Add\Remove Namespace...you'll see all the options there.

What "maya model" did you mean precisely? ... Maybe you're importing non converted Sub-D geometry ?

Hope this helps

Awesome! I'll try that out, thanks for the help.

As for the model, turns out the problem was I using File > Import on my fbx instead of File > Open. Oddly simple solution.

Ok so I tried that and still no luck. There prefix still appears on export. There is no prefix in motionbuilder, and in that prefix menu it is totally empty. It just adds it only on export. Very frustrating.
