okay i know how to target weld and all that good stuff but sometimes when i insert a vertex on an edge and then try to target weld it to another vertex to get rid of a useless face i will not weld to that vert. i a mnot sure why this happens but it is annoying.

i just remember you can delete the edge with no problem but still i do not understand why it will not weld.

thanks for any help:applause:

Is your weld threshold big enough? :p

You quite probably have a doubled face somewhere. This is the second most common reason a vert won't weld, the first being what Marcel mentioned.

Begin your quest for the hidden face like this:

Look at your verts. Use the crossing window to select vertex junctions. Look at the vert count. If it's a single number, such as "Vertex 23", then it's fine and you can move to another. If it's said something like "4 vertexes selected", than you know there is a problem. You can use this techniqe to isolate the area that has the double face. After you have narrowed it down, use the same technique to select polys and edges. Once you identify the offending poly, you can simply erase it and rebuild that poly. Often, it's a collection of doubled faces. There are quite a few operations that can create this effect, but it's much easier to rid yourself of them instead of trying to avoid their creation.

Hope that made some sense. Let us know.

Instead of welding them try collapsing them. The only thing is that collapsing only works if the verticies are right next to each other.
