Maya maintains a list of directories where MEL scripts can go called the "script path." This includes a few standard directories by default.
If you're not trying to support multiple animators using the same Maya installation, you can put the script in your home directory and be fine.
On the Mac and under Linux put the .mel file in the maya/scripts directory under your home directory. On Windows, put them in My Documents\maya\scripts.
Quit and restart Maya and you should be able to run the scripts.

Thanks for replying Mr. Wilkins. Out of all people I would think you would be the last person to reply to my message. Anyways thanks for the tip. Went and bought the book. Helped out alot. I suggest anybody who is going to be animator to get there hands on this book. Thanks again Mr. Wilkins and have a good day.
