I find it hard to create a PHOTO-realistic 3D bone-rigged model that can be used to simulate "real" life forms as closely as possible. I want to make a 3D science fiction movie which is highly photorealistic. For example if I UV map a scanned photograph of a full bodied human being (say from a magazine or photo or something) to my 3D bone-rigged model, the peojected texture doesn't appear to be photorealistic at all. There is loss of photo quality and smudges. After following Julian's face rigging tutorial, I understand bump mapping can help and also choosing realistic skin tones and textures in HyperShade.

Is there anyway I can do a highly PHOTO-realistic 3D bone-rigged model that can be used to simulate "real" life forms as closely as possible ?

Many thks in advance!
