Ok guys help me out here.....

So work has this computer benefit where they will pay 50% of what you pay for a computer, or a direct computer accessory (monitor, printer, etc) up to $2,000. So I can get a 4K computer for 2K.

I already have a nice workstation, for matte painting, Illustrations and some AE work.
Also have a backup computer for storage (only 250gb though), a wacom tablet, and 2 monitors that are almost identical, a laptop, and a printer. I really could use a new camera, but that doesn't fall under the benefit.

You can't buy computer parts and put it together, has to be pre built.
If I don't use it, I lose it. Have a month starting in Nov to use it.
I'm starting to get clients for freelance work but I mainly do alot of Photoshop work. I will be starting to do some short films with compositing and vfx. I've thought of a Boxx render node, but is there something else I should get? Remember mainly PSD work.
So what should I get? Ideas please!

For your stated tools and tasks, I would not recommend the use of a rendernode.

:)

My advice (keeping your budget in mind) if you want to build this with an eye towards maximum interactivity with VFX/compositing tools like AE is to get a modern i7-based system with 2 or more hard drives (RAID0) dedicated for the "scratch" discs and temp media storage.
