View Full Version : EI Group Project
Gigayoda 10-07-2009, 02:29 PM Brian,
Just wondering if the group project some is still moving forward? As I have mentioned before I am in the middle of another group project. As I recall we were doing the scavenger insects from a larger insect or mecha animal? I remember we where on standby for some refined sketches and some members from upgrading EI.
Forum has been quiet for a while so I hope you guys are churning out some cool projects.

I have slowly continued working on bug designs for the scavenger scene.
The bug concepts and composition I have been working on have been very enjoyable.
I haven't posted anything because I was hoping someone else would have [posted their ideas]. I was also hoping to get a more finished "final comp" image done that include lighting and color.
Additionally I wasn't sure if there was interest to keep the project going, and where EIAS/EITG/Modeler, the Next Generation were standing...
Anyhow, I can post what I have done, and what my chicken scratch final composition idea is... IF people want to keep this community going...?
Cheers,
Mike

Hey Mike,
Good to hear you're still sketching. I guess I'm wondering the same if the interest is there. You built a pretty clear vision to move forward but I haven't seen the interest from others. I know there were requests for a final scene sketch. I'll wait and see for more responses. Maybe a poll should help.

Hey Guys.
Yes...it has been rather quiet in here. Its quiet over at the EI Forums as well. I think everyone is collectively holding their breath as we wait for Tomas and the Igors to take control of Animator's direction. Everything seems to be in a holding pattern.

Hi Mike and Wilson,
ok, i´m not participating but i´d like to give also a bit input which hopefully can push things a bit for you guys.
Mike, i remember your sketches and maybe people could not imagine how a final image might have to look prior starting modeling, who knows (like photoreal or not, etc.).
I like to show, as inspiration final images from Shade Master Kazuhiko Nakamura (http://almacan.cgsociety.org/gallery/) and The Making of Metamorphosis (http://features.cgsociety.org/story_custom.php?story_id=2983&page=).
I think the style, colors and detailed modeling would fit IMHO perfectly to your ideas and sketches, or how a final EIAS scene could look like.
Just a thought...
Regards
Stefan

Thank's for the links Stefan... I had seen the image, but didn't look at it close enough to see that it was made of bugs...
I have had some issues coming up with a composition that I think will work. I have six bug designs I need to work out some more... and a basic composition. But not sure how it's all going to come together yet... my experience setting up lighting and color in a composition is not extensive.
I'm also working on a personal project... been kind of torn between which project to focus on so I've been going back and forth between the two...
Cheers,
Mike
