My first challenge. (ever)

I am on an adventure in a far off land. Far away from my wife and friends. This is a great chance to do something productive and fun with my spare time.
Living in Jerusalem has a few minor drawbacks. Kosher law forbids mixing meat and dairy.
Resulting in a dirth of any tasty pizza. Green olives and cheese don't cut it as pizza.

I am on a mission to create my own "Pep(peroni) and mush(room)" pizza that I plan to devour with gusto and satisfaction.

I am basing my portrait on the work of Francisco Goya

Saturn_Devouring_His_Son (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_Devouring_His_Son)

Here's my concept sketch.

Jeeze, that painting is pretty barbaric. I think I will definitely like your interpretation better, good luck.

Thanks for the comments.

My German butcher is non-kosher and is my connection for bacon. I purchased some Salami Picante which is the closet thing he had to American pepperoni. Fresh mushrooms, the salami and a frozen cheese pizza were my first attempt to satisfy my hunger.

Tried the new ZSphere2 and the sketch mode. Gave it 30 minutes and switched to the adaptive skin.

Looks like you had a better attempt than me with the Spheres. I'm still waiting on the breakthrough on that one.

Hehe I love this, I am glad someone is doing this ;) I was thinking about doing this painting but the subject matter is a little dark for me, I love the pizza .. I think if you are half as good at modeling as you are at throwing together a pizza we are all in for a treat.

p.s. anyone who liked the pale man in pan's labyrinth this painting inspired his creation :D

Found some time over the Jewish holiday weekend to add orifices and detail further.

I'm going to save this for a realistic portrait and go for the caricature.

I've been chipping at the model and experimenting with paint and lighting.

This is awesome! Although that picture is a tad painful to imagine. If that's a fresh pizza that hot cheese and sauce is gonna destroy those fingers. It's perfect though because he/you just need that pizza so bad that you are numb to everything else.
