create a ramp texture with 2d placement node ,
then create another texture node ,link its outalpha to 2d placement 's translate frame U attribute

the translate frame U is float type .
and the outalpha is a float type, too.
but the ramp texture is not be translated togather.
and according to the texture outalpha ,distort!!!
the effect is can be used to do smoke effect.
but what is process of this effect?
I mean maya how to sample the texture outalpha infomation to
2d placement?
if I use the outalpha to control the object translateX
but I guess just one value to be sample to control the translateX. not same as the above texture example.
I see the maya help,it is not clear explain.
need help!!!!!!!!
thanks.

Foregive me for my stupid answer...

What kind of ramp are you using?
translate U will not change a V ramp!

If the ramp is based on the particle's age you may want to change their age with a runtime expression.:wavey:
