Motiva RealCamera is a free postproduction tool developed by Motiva that tries to mimic the exposure effects caused by some real cameras and films based on the research of the Computer Vision Laboratory of the Columia University. All the processes are made by the GPU, and that guarantees the maximun speed.

This app will be integrated to iTech-project our realtime 3d engine and into Motiva COLIMO (new version of Motiva SOAP (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=2&t=791054&highlight=soap)) that will be released after finding a publisher for our tutorial "Rebuiliding Motiva COLIMO to understand the CG Theory".

To know more about this, please look at the video.

Thanks for such a nice tool! Is there a way to batch process a folder of images?

looks very nice man

would be very cool to have that in AE or nuke.

btw, what is the big difference in this with levels, curves, exposure, etc?

Since is free you can give a copy to your client to choose his favorite look... you can install it in all your machines etc.

In other hand his internal process can be integrated to RT applications without apreciable GPU cost. Also a Mental Ray output shader could be released for Max/Maya/Softimage too, it will be not free but cheap (thinking about 5-10 €).

Yeah i already use alien skin exposure 2 and imagenomic realgrain for this.
You have some extra options in those you might be intrested in to have a look at (like grain, curves, some color and temperature balancing etc)

But they arent free, dont run on the gpu and dont support 32bit images.
So it would be way cool if this could do the same things but with 32bit support and probably faster (gpu).

Wouldnt it be better to make a rendereffect out of it instead of an output shader.
So all the non mental ray users out there (like me  ) can also enjoy this. :p

Or just keep it as an external tool or make an ae filter out of it, thats maybe even better.

That would be awesome !

It looks like a good tool, and thanks for keeping it free !

Thank you for sharing!

When I see the output image, it immediately reminds me of the "Magic Bullet Looks Preset Library"... Hope to see the mental ray output shader and the new version that supports image sequence or even video soon.

What a brilliant app! I'm really looking forward to being able to import video into this in the later versions.

ADDED: Oh and the ability to import the look into After Effects/Premier would be the icing on the cake ;-)

Just had a quick play with this now that I'm home and I must say, I'm very impressed. While not as fully featured or as tweakable as Magic Bullet Looks this free app still delivers really nice results.

attached is a really quick comparison (don't judge the image quality, it's a home video).

I'm glad to see that other people is using it :D

Version 0.2a is currently available to some testers, it includes Chromatic Aberration in two modes: lens and print, basic vignetting and support for image sequences.

Obviously I'll put it soon here too :) just after the bug hunting and record a video with the new features.

P.D. Is not planned a AE/Premiere plugin, sorry.
