Sorry this thread came around late, but better late then never, right?

Anyway for the month of October I thought that it would be cool to see what kinds of things people can come up with. The concept is going to be on based on Halloween. You can pick to do anything you like.

For example:

A horror topic; Chased by zombies
Halloween; Children Trick or Treating
Try to keep your animation based on the Horror/Halloween theme.

For anyone who doesn’t know of a site to host their WIPS I suggest trying Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/) or Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/). They are both very reliable video hosting websites and most people have access to them.

The Rules Are:

Make all the WIPS in Playblast form, then if you choose you can create your final piece in a more robust renderer (NOT necessary, you can still post the final with a playblast).
All animations should last at least 10 seconds long, that way there will be more clarity with what is going on.
All animations should last NO longer than 12 Seconds.
All participants must show there work-in-progress before posting the final.
DO NOT add any audio.
HAVE FUN!!! :buttrock:

I'm still really new at 3D and animation, maybe a month total of experience with it (off and on through the past year or so) but I'd really like to get in on these. I'll have to make up some characters first, but I wanna see what I can do :)

Awesome, thanks! I was trying to find a good site for that kind of stuff last night and didn't have much luck, so I'll definitely have to bookmark that one.

The good thing that came out of it last night is that I made my own "main" character last night. Just gotta texture him, then rig him for animation and he should be good to go. He's rather simple and low-poly so it shouldn't be too much of a headache. I hope. :)

Here is my first blocking pass; No facial expressions just planing pass of blocking. I will do double bounce walk, when he see pumpkin he slides to it and then looks for anybody coming. He was happy to find a pumpkind on a halloween day. He splat on it then pumpkin open its eyes and mouth and he was shocked and run away.

Anyway, here is my playblast of what I have so far. The intent is that the guyis being threatened somehow, maybe by a pumpkin, not sure. I need to speed up a few things, and fix when he falls. I also need to add the hands more in front of his face.

pixi-ugur - Really amazing work!!! I truly enjoyed watching your animation. If I get some time I will go over it some more and see if there are any suggestions that I could give to help improve some.
Side note: I don't think that there will be much. Well done.

jmmiller3 - I see a lot of potential in your piece so far. Keep it coming.

There is great starts so far. There is still plenty of time left in the month. So, don't give up everyone. There still time to receive critiques from our peers, for anyone who isn't ready to post a final entry

Hey guys don't forget that if you have a completed animation that you want to put into the vote for best animation for the month of October please post a link to your animation and a 150x150 pic representing your animation to the Final's Thread (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=135&t=818030). Also the month of November is around the corner so please vote in the Topic's Poll, (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=135&t=820594) so that we can get all set up.

This is just the blocking of poses. I still need to work on the timing and overlaps. Wish me luck guys!

So the animation I'm working on is 12secs, but when I upload it to youtube it shows up as 13?.....is this going to cause disqualification?

So long as your honest about it, I haven't seen your final yet but I'm sure it will be fine. So don't sweat it.

Actually, I see what you mean I just uploaded a video to youtube that was only 12 seconds long and it also turned out to say 13 seconds. Yeah, don't sweat it. It'll be ok.

If this happens to anyone else please just let it be noted in this thread. Thank you.

KyleG i like your final animation very much :) Good luck. At the end while he was moving his right hand to stop the clock you could move head down to push the pose. Thats my opinion ;) It maynot be necessary take care.

Guys, I am sorry I didn't finish my animation I really wanted to. I thought I was going to have the chance but today my son and I went trick-or-treating, which was awesome this was his second Halloween. He was Scooby Doo. Tonight I am going to a Halloween party and can't work on it.

But I had so much fun with this topic that I will still finish it and if anyone cares to see it. I will post here on this thread when I get a chance. "Boy Scouts Honor" and All that stuff.

Aw I shouldn't say that I was never a boy scout, but I will finish and post here in a couple of days.

Congratulations to everyone who was able to post a final. The Poll will be up tomorrow for everyone to place their vote on their favorite entry. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
