View Full Version : site not updating in browser?
JoelOtron 08-12-2003, 04:29 AM Lately, I've noticed that the site is not updating in my browser. I have to constantly click "option-load" when coming to this site, otherwise I see old posts. The same goes for my posts. They dont appear until after I've force-reloaded the page. And sometimes my edits dont make it at all. I'll edt a post and it returns to the same post as b4.
Is this a browser issue, or have any others noticed this? Just started happenneing over past few months.

Haven't seen anything like that. I'm using IE6 on Windows XP. Sounds like you're on a Mac?

I guess the first question I would have to ask is: Are you goring through a proxy server? If you are and the administrator has turned web page caching on, then indeed, you would have to refresh a web site to get the most recent version. Some companies like to do this to reduce the amount of bandwidth thier users create from going to the same site over and over. Of course some browsers do web site caching as well.
What browser are you using?
Oh, also, I'd like to state that I am real new to Cinema 4D, and 3D in general. I am doing it as a hobby, and I purchased Cinema 7XL through Maxon this summer and I plan on updating to 8XL or Studio this fall. So far Cinema seems great. I have been hanging around the CGTalk forum for a while, and I must say that you guys blow me away. Not only are you all talented, but this is one of the most helpful group of users I think I've seen.
(Ok, I have done a little 3D before, but it was way back when 3d Studio release 3 (for dos) was new and the Pentuim 66 and 90's were the 'hottest' pcs.)

And welcome redrake--this is indeed an awesome group of people/artists.

I'm using Safari 1.0(v85) and haven't been seeing those problems. But maybe I'm just not paying close enough attention?
I've noticed Safari slowing down on me when the cache is getting large. Doing a reset speeds it up again, but then I have to login once to all the forum sites to get the cookies again.

Yeah--I have 1.0 (v85) as well. Its inconsistant, sometimes the site will update fine, sometimes not.
Thanks for the confirmation!
