Every time I make a model in Maya I start out by using the CV curve tool to make 3D guides, and every time I make these guides I wonder what It would be like to draw a 2D image the same way. Well originally with this image I was just going to do it how I always do it; sketch it, ink it, scan it, and colour it, but then it clicked into my head to try drawing it in Maya. So I stated normally by sketching it but then I scanned it right away and brought it into Maya. As I was placing all the CV curves I found that any imperfection with the sketched lines could easily be changed by moving the points as I needed. Also by using the CV curves I could make perfect curves and not worry about jagged lines. After all the lines were laid out all that was needed after was to copy the screen, paste it in PhotoShop, and get to colouring how I normally do it. Bam! The only thing it needs that I couldn't do in Maya was line quality, but I'll save that for the next attempt. Click the WIP image for a larger version and for the record the lack of colour is because this image is for a silkscreened shirt.
And here's the final image:
