Just checked them out and they are pretty nice, the flow to setting up the whole character is good and a lot of the expresions and muscle bone stuff is great.

Hey dfaris, any opinions on how stable and how well Messiah 4.0 works with C4D? I heard that Messiah 3.3 just didn't work well with C4D at all and had broken features and crashed often. I would like to know if these issues have any truth and if they do have these issues been resolved.

thanks,

Hey tjnyc,

The new releases have just been released and the C4D connection will be released within the next 2 weeks. I have talked to the messiah folks and they told me that the C4D connection is working just fine. They say they are killing the last few bugs and it will be out after that. I think there were some problems with animate 3.3 I dont know for sure because I use messiah studio and just got C4D about 3 weeks ago.

My experience with the PMG guys has been when they say they have fixed the bugs they have fixed them, but thier time frames for updates has been off when it comes to this latest release, the releases before this one they have been pretty good, 2 or 3 a year. But from 3.3 or rev 8 of studio till this latest release it has been like a year well worth it IMO. I will post a message when they release the c4d connection for animate. I use studio and can still work with models but I have to do the rendering in messiah till the c4d connection is out but there is a lot to learn for now.

As for the tuts I have know Joe for awhile and he knows messiah inside and out. I have been badgering him to do these tuts for a long time and I tell you what if you are learning messiah this first set of tuts will have you using messiah like you have been using it for 6 months.

No Problem tjnyc,

Also I forgot to say that if you live some place else in the world and not the US Joe is trying to work something out where he will be able to upload them to you so you dont have to pay the crazy taxes and shipping.

Yeah, it would cool if it was downloadable, as well as being shipped.

Well I'm not sure if this first video would be downloadable, Its like 400 megs and the bandwidth would hard to find. But if there is a way for him to upload someplace for you that would work. I'll see if I can talk to him and find out.

Hot Damn the mini tuts are up and ready.
http://www.joecosman.com/messiahtuts/

I had a chance to check them out, Damn there is some good stuff in these tuts. The way he takes the whole arm setup with lots and lots of bones and reduces it to 7 or 8 bones to control the whole thing including fingers is amazing.

The whole fan bone tuts are pretty impressive and once you apply it to your rig, it does not get any easier then this.

I'm checking out the rest of the mini tuts right now I will let you know what I think.

The MetaRigid tuts are really nice. I have not done much animating with rigid body stuff so these really showed me how easy it is to setup and animate stuff like this. Joe makes eveything look so easy.

Just finished the jointcomp tuts I really like these too. I love how he shows how to use muscle bones in different situations to get the mesh to deforem the way you want it to.

The models he includes in the tuts are freaking great. I wish I could model this well.

I see he has posted info about bundles and prices. He even has a discount for the folks that bought the Face setup tut. Click on the CD to see more about the tuts.
