View Full Version : Jumping verts - during animation
Chapt0r 08-11-2003, 11:37 PM Here is an image. You can see on the left arm of the character the vert its pulled way high. This Vertex jumps up like this immediatly after I add one frame of any animation and is undo-able.
Has anyone else experienced this with a model? What is even weirder is that I am animating the camera! not even the rig..
Suggestions?

Actually, I have had this problem a few times. Seems to be that when you have verts selected on your sub-object (and this can be any object in the scene) and you begin to animate using set-key (never had this problem w/ auto key) the verts that are selected will either collapse on themselves or jump way off screen. And it doesn't seem to matter what you are animating either. As long as you use set-key, it will cause this problem. I've fixed it by simply going into my editable poly and deselecting any vertexes, and edges and poly's... just to be safe, even though it seems to only be a problem w/ the selected vertices. What I'm wondering is whether or not this is a bug in max, or just some common sense info that I missed along the way that you should not have any verts selected when animating??? Anyone else had this problem?
Oh, btw i'm using max 5.1

It's a bug in max.
Currently a few of us are hoping to have it fixed in a max5 patch. The workaround at the moment is to set a key for the mesh itself.
