dear all ... i am still confused between GI and AO ... what is the different between them and when to use what? or may i use the both together? is there any explanation or tutorial? and how to apply this for v-ray?

Here, Global Illumination gives you light bouncing around, as light does this as well in the real world. Ambient Occlusion (dirt map) gives you a map where points that have other geometry close by are darker, e.g. the inside corners in the image.
