Anatomy.
You seem to have a decent concept of painting and color, at least to the extent that you've shown, but the anatomy isn't accurate. If it was distorted in a way that read as intentional, it could take on a life of it's own like a caricature, but as is, the inaccuracies appear born from a lack of fundamental understanding of the human figure, which takes away from the ability for the viewer to relate with the image.

as for the design itself, it's nothing really new.
if the job calls for a 'desert, fantasy, archer'. you nailed it dead on. the shroud, the elaborate bow, etc... but it's been done plenty of times, so as a stand alone piece, i'm not seeing anything that's really grabbing my attention.
If you're going to design and archer, first imagine the world which the archer will be expected to function in, then imagine how this archer would dress and what tools this archer would use to function the most effectively in that world.

edit:
I also can't imagine that bow having any flex to it, which is what makes a bow powerful.
it appears to be made out of blades. Metal bows are fine, but the nature of the blades leaves a very fine edge with a very sturdy or thick core/back... the combination doesn't leave much room for flex against the same plane as the blade is fashioned. imagine a samurai sword bending back away from the blade. it would break. etc...
I thin you've got a good head on your shoulders though and are headed in the right direction.

Firstly, thanks a lot for that frank and honest comments. It's got some head's rolling. We are already working on the feedback we are recieving. thanks a ton.

Regarding the anatomy, the character is very out of proportion but our main intention's with creating these designs are to understand the look and feel of it. Since it is a 3D production the anatomy would be more refined in the model. The character is a goddess so i guess that would clarify some thoughts.

Regarding the design, it is based on a indian mythological story, there are more tweeks being done on the characters giving it a more indianish feel to it which be revealed once they are complete and the archer is not the only character as you can see from the recent update.

Regarding the Bow,i think what you've said is a eye opener and we are already making amends on that. thanks a lot.

But still they are still some things that are off the charts and your comments are making us realize more.

Please tell us your views and on we could improve on the design.

Please do follow our 3d experiments also

...what are you looking for, criticism wise? Do you want comments on the concept itself - or do you want comments on the various technical/presentation aspects of it from the standpoint of a painting?

As a concept, it seems solid enough for the purpose.

As a piece of promotional artwork - it has quite a way to go, I think. They're relatively flat, very little volume is evident, lighting, pose, background, etc - all could have quite a bit done with them. But a lot of that involves going back to some of the basics.

So...yes, knowing whether you want us to look at it from a concept standpoint, or an artistic...technical...painting type standpoint, would help.

what we are trying to do is to make a painting presentation in which we understand what characteristic's, attitude and what possible can this character can do in a environment that we are working on. So work is actually being done on correcting the anatomy as of now.

please be free to critique on any aspect you feel like and am sure things will be worked towards them cause we're positive that what you would say would be for our betterment.

our next step is to work on the volume of the character.

we request you to keep in mind of the indian influence it should have before you jot down your critque.

cheers
