View Full Version : Mat Editor : missing links
Jon_Pran 08-11-2003, 08:28 PM I've imported some models that have a bunch of missing maps. I've tried to go through each object and delete or replace the missing ones, but there are a few that I can't find. Unfortunately it takes an additional 10 minutes after I hit render before it gives me the chance to hit CONTINUE.
Is there anyway to override these few materials so it will stop looking for them?
Thanks.

apply new materials to the objects in question.
if you know what objects are getting errors, select those objects individually and, in the material editor, choose get material > from selected, and you will see the material; load it, then replace the specific maps that aren't found.

Yeah, I've done that, but I need the materials on there.
For example, I have this fruit bowl that I got from 3DCafe (I think - and by the way, what happened to their site??). It looks great, but it's missing a few of the bump maps. I need to keep the maps, but delete the missing ones. Well, I've got about 50 groups like that and I can't find 4 of the maps.
I wouldn't care, but it adds a considerable amount of time on to the renders.
It would be nice if you could search through the library for a specific map, then trace it back to the material and object that it belongs to.
Any other ideas? Or plugins/scripts? This is something that could save tons of time for many people, it would seem.
