View Full Version : errors in mayaRenderLog.txt

Hi !

As a very newbie user of mentalray/maya5 i´m having tons of troubles with a scene i´m working on.

This is a render of the main scene of a short film we are working on. I´ll soon post it on the Work in progress section. Right now is just for illustrate you what is more or less in what we have the troubles.

But in other camera angles the render just finish without any output image, but with some errors in mayaRenderLog.txt.

Well, as you see, i´m using jpeg textures (there are a lot...) but i have heard the mental ray works better and faster with TGA. Is that true? could that be the problem?

I´ve noticed that in my scene there are 2 or 3 objects without material, it is one of those things you leave for later and you completely forget. In the render you see, those are not visible. I have to make some more renders to be sure that is not the problem, but, could it be? Is it possible that mental ray hangs for that?

Sorry for the long mail :P I really need some help on that. We are running out of time! :D

2 things look strange to me:
IMG 0.5 progr: opening texture

C:/pigstory/IMAGENES/source images/amoto/deposito2bump.JPG, for reading

1) the space in the dirctory name source images
You may better use default naming when you create a project.

2) It's more easy for maya to use image.iff or image.rgb as sourceImages.
Therefor open a command prompt and type
imgcvt -v "C:/pigstory/IMAGENES/source images/amoto/deposito2bump.JPG" "C:/pigstory/IMAGENES/source images/amoto/deposito2bump.iff"
to convert the files you use.

:shrug: Let's hope it will fixe the bug.
Anyway it should optimize the rendering

I noticed that about the spaces, and yesterday i fixed a lot of texture names which had spaces. I´m going to fix that on the main subdir.

I did a total conversion of jpg to TGA ( i have the PSDs :)) but the problem persists. I hope that space in source images is what it is going wrong, because i´m out of time and of ideas!

Hi

I ´ve fixed the spaces and some more strange names i passed by, but the problem persists.

I´m going to take a look at that filetexturemanager. I´m very new in maya and i do not have so much free time to test plugins and scripts.
