This was a joy to watch. And no mocap!?.. The visuals and the animation are top notch, and I have to say I really loved the way you directed this film. 5 stars from me. Great job on this! This is FP material.

Awsome work Remi ! The color of your movie is superb , you've done all this all alone ?????
09-30-2009, 03:30 PM
Amazing, it's a great piece of work Remi !! I can't imagine how many hours you spend working on this.... are you going to make an other short one day after two years on this one or was it too hard ?
09-30-2009, 06:45 PM
Great work. Great color. Nice animation.
What package was used for animation?
Son of Caba

As I said on the vimeo link, I love it, lovely luscious colour and texture palette with a great atmosphere, the d.o.p is awesome too (not a common thing in the cg world imo)
what app combo did you use?
p.s. reminds me a bit of aeon flux or the animatirx "matriculated"

Very appealing character and overall rendering. Cool dynamic action.
The camera gets a little confusing sometimes but it's minor.
10-01-2009, 09:29 AM
Thanks for your nices compliments. i've done this with 3DSMAX and Shake2.51.There's a lot of compositing.and yes i've done it alone :(.
10-01-2009, 11:44 AM
wow , massive work ! congrats !
10-02-2009, 04:19 AM
I watched it again, really nice visuals and great character design. She looks right out of a comic book. The animation is very good, I'd think parts were mocaped had you not specified that it is all hand keyed.
I smell a plug coming up
10-02-2009, 04:40 AM
posted twice accidentally and am not sure how to remove my post. So I'm editing it.
Great color palettes too :) very intense.
10-02-2009, 09:31 AM
Hi , yes you're right i didn't precised it , but it's only hand keyed animation.
10-02-2009, 10:03 AM
i thought the hand drawn dream sequences should have been animated as well, but other then this
10-02-2009, 04:37 PM
DEftGauze : yes i'm working on a another shortfilm, for the moment i've to finish the scenario. It gonna be very different from "Cable" and i don't want to do this alone this time ;) .
Thanks a lot for your very nice compliments .!! :)

Son of Caba (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=91654) : i used 3DS Max and shake 2.51 . Compositing was very important in the atmosphere and final render in general.

Tremendous achievement, all of the technical and creative aspects in terms of the animation, lighting, environment design etc. are great. The only slight criticism is that the narrative/story is a little too vague. Never the less, for one individual to produce such high quality work deserves high praise 5*.
Awesome work Remi !!!
I'm still amazed that you managed to do it alone, it looks like it has been made by a team of 20 people !
It s ^$ù*&é Amazing !!!
10-07-2009, 09:32 AM
Thanks a lot RIC!!
10-07-2009, 08:30 PM
what's sort of shader did you use ? is it the basic paint of the scanline , or a plug ....?
10-07-2009, 11:09 PM
Very VERY nice. ....Beautiful!
Some incredible work. Really nice ideas, art direction, animation... loved it.
10-08-2009, 04:50 PM
thanks a lot saxcore ! it was a lot of work, down to the smalest details :)
10-08-2009, 07:46 PM
I'll start by saying wow and probably end with it. Great piece! Reminds me of a ton of sci fi I love and the art direction and directing in general is really spiffy! One of the few pieces that really drew me in recently and it's definitely a well made artistic piece. Some of the anim could be a LITTLE better and I agree with the want to have the dream sequences be animated and the sound could be a tad better what with sounding like it's in a certain type of room or from a specific location but overall this is a FANTASTIC piece. I really enjoyed it thanks for sharing.
10-08-2009, 09:38 PM
agree with Daemonecles , but what about the shader dude ? Take your time ...no stress ...
10-09-2009, 01:25 PM
Thanks Daemonecles for your nice crits . i know that the dream sequences may be too different from the rest of the movie, but i try this to give a specific style, maybe it was a mistake ;) .
i will post a small making of for compositing/shader this week end ( Thanks Tomaya for asking ;) ))
10-09-2009, 01:58 PM
well.... i'm speachless. great work!
10-09-2009, 04:01 PM

One of the best shorts I've seen! And the flashbacks were beautifully represented, I especially loved the robot sketch, it fits beautifully, yet unexpectedly. Kudos on all fronts man, this is genius :)

10-21-2009, 07:11 AM
That was very impressive, you made my day with your short :).
I am breathless knowing you did it alone, such a strong atmosphere.
Looking forward to the next "short" you will do.
10-21-2009, 05:57 PM
Hi Remi! Cable is a very mature movie in pace and atmosphere. The art direction remided me Peter Chang as well the camera, for me its totally fine! If we gonna make references we have to go in good sources.
I´d have to watch again to get more of the story, get a good narrative is not that ease. I know what is to build a story among almost 2 years. Any way, it´s beautiful work! Congratulations.
10-23-2009, 07:03 AM
thanks guys !! :)
12-06-2009, 10:55 PM

All by yourself ?? Incredble, it's a very nice animation, superb background design and billiant lighting. I did enjoy cameras and rythm as well.
PS : is it a short on his own, or is it a pitch for something longer, or thinking about a sequel to help us to understand a bit more ?
12-07-2009, 07:08 AM
really very nice animy i like it the sound & the story but i think he is look like the cartoon not 3D animation ???
good luck 4 ever

Very inspiring work. Stylistically it is very professional and the figure animation is outstanding. The drama and story come across very well and I found it to be quite intense. The pace and atmosphere is spot on. Congratulations and wish you greater success in the future.

Great work! :applause:
01-22-2010, 12:03 AM
Woahhhh .. How did I miss this. what a beautiful piece of work. Briliant cinematography and excellent visuals. The way the tension increased from the begining of the story to the flashback has kept me on the edge of my seat. Awesome work. I would love to see more of this :)
01-27-2010, 03:26 PM
