spaze 08-11-2003, 05:13 PM Hi,
I've seen some guys showing their model surfaced + the wire !!
Is it a 2 rendering pass + Photoshop or is it a special shader ??

There are many ways to accomplish this effect, though none are really as cool as they should be.
1. Copy original mesh, add a slight push mod to the copy and then add a wireframe material to it.
2. Create a gradient ramp map, set it to "box", and then make the map linear. The problem with this method, is that the wire thickness changes a bit depending on the shape of the polygon.
3. Use the "edgemap" plugin available here:
www.maxplugins.de
It still suffers from the problem of number 3, but it's automated.
4. Do it in post, ie, render passes.
Option number one will give you the cleanest wire...but you've got a copy of your mesh.
Hope that helps a bit.
[EDIT]: You can also do a render preview to just capture the VP.

Another way would be to use Blur Studio's old WireTex as the mask for a Blend Material, and stuff your Texture/WireMaterial in either Material slot of the Blend Material.
