Hi,

This is my first time here. I've been using max about 9 months in my spare time (v. intermittent). This is my first attempt at organic modelling; and hopefully will be fully lip synced sometime before the end of the year. Box modelled with mesh smooth. Still needs lots of work, the model is still in two halves.

Comments and crits are much appreciated. As its my first time modelling a human, I'm wondering whether the proportions are correct.

Cheers

seams... need fixed ASAP.

Select the edges and add some weight to them, maybe even the points.

Also, the ears...... something just looks wrong with them... I don't know your references, but something just doesn't seem right.
(waits for someone elses comments)

Edit: Other than that though... it is looking awesome. :buttrock:

My reference was my own face.

The problem with the ears is when I started modelling on this, I was very new to the concept of modelling - I know 'aim high or what?', so was unaware of the 3 or 4 sided poly rule when applying a meshsmooth. Thats one of the areas Im hoping to tidy up as it does contain some 5 sided polys. Maybe I just have mutant ears!!!;)

Thanks Chaos, your comments are appreciated. Will post an update soon.

Hi Matt, Welcome!

These are my thoughts.... :)

Don't worry about the seams! That'll come in time.

The proportions are off. The head is too tall and narrow.

Check out this site (http://www.beautyanalysis.com/), they have some interesting things to say about facial proportions. They also have diagrams you can download that are helpful for getting things in the right place. Don't be afraid to use references when you're modeling.

Another thought is... Don't set your sights on lipsyncing this model. Just look forward to getting it to a point where you're happy with it. By then you'll probably want to start over from scratch anyway. :)

It looks like your headed the right direction. Keep it up :wip:
