So I need to tape myself doing some of the action I need a character I am building for reference to create the animation from. However, I can't afford a digital camera (poor white trash), so I need to buy a decent web camera. I was thinking of firewire because then I could get 640 at 30fps, but I also realize that trying to jurry rig a full view of myself on a short teether of the connection could be quite tedius.

Soo.. anyone have suggestions for a fast connection camera that is under $100, and is wireless, or a teethered has a long extension (yes I know I an get a firewire extension, but the wire itself would raise the cost dramatically).

Or other methods (mirror no help because of the amount I need). Im sure some of you out there have been in situations like mine before (I hope!).

That or a mocap system for under $100!!

You may be able to rent a camera if you don't need it permanently:

I'll need something permanently.. thus the cheapo webcam (until I get a job). (Besides I dont have a CC that I can use for their rentals, nor a car to pick up [note again poor white trash]).

I mean for the animators out there, Im sure some of your friends/relatives use webcams, and using your critical eye might know of one that I could jury-rig.

Do you have a usb 2 port? I got a webcam for the very same purpose you describe, but I have usb 1 on mine so it was capturing at a poor framerate. You can get adapters to upgrade to usb 2.

Best Buy would have stuff for you if you can take a bus or ride your bike there.

It might have a short tether, but you can get an extension cord and take your computer outside if you need to.

You can do it :)
