Hi this is my first serious attempt at creating a low-poly model. I'm basing the style and proportions of the character on Erik Larsens drawings of Savage Dragon. It is very stylistic so please excuse the small feet.
Any and all comments are welcome. I should start texturing him very soon depending on how many more changes I make to the model.

First tri count and pictures of the wires would help.

Also Dont go totally off Larsons drawings (Im a fan also). He does alot of that to emphasize focus in the frame.

If you can find some of the toys, or sculptures, that will be a better reference.

Because now, his feet are way, way too small.

Though I do like his head. Though space the eye a little further apart (1 eye inbetween).

Please give him a 5:00 shadow when you texture him. Dragon always looks cooler this way.

Thanks for the suggestions I will definitely try them out. But in the mean time here is a wireframe of the character before I triangulate him.

The total polys after triangulating is 2918

yeah, his feet are too small.

I love his head and arms though. It has a nice look to it.

Just adding a little update. Wanted to get people's opinions on how the texturing is going so far. Still alot more to go.

The jeans are looking nice! Overall, the creases/folds on the are well done, and the material feels like denim.

The folds just below the knees feel off, however. There's way too much tension/crinkling, the fabric should drape a little more than that at the knees. Also, you could probably lighten the shadow color on the jeans a little. Not too much, mind you...he should still feel like a gritty, tough-ass hombre.

The shading on the shirt is way too black, try a lighter color for your shadows there as well. I won't comment on the amount of folds on the shirt yet...as the dark shading is distracting me :surprised

I won't comment too much on the anatomical issues of the mesh, having once been a fan of the comic. I will say there's a happy medium that you could find between realistic/cartoony proportions that might improve the model...but that's up to you!

He's looking great, otherwise!

Thanks,
Gary

Nice jeans definitely. I also think you over did the crinkle under the knee though. And for the shirt, probly less dramatic folds would be better. And maybe try a bluish color for the shadows there, often that works better than black for shadows on white material. I don't know the character, but he looks good so far. I think you have some wasted polys in a few places but not too bad. Keep it up.
