How can After Effects read the Z-depth channel of Maya IFF file?
or is there any other good methods?

if you have a comp. app that can not read Z-information or simply want to be able to "see" the depth channel you can render out a fake z-channel.
here a script that converts your scene so that the result will render out a z-channel like 16 bit IFF image, that you can use in any compositing tool.
:shame: be sure to read the header of the script before (!) executing it. it will change your scene a LOT.
