Thanks for posting that! I just replayed 'Ico' last week - it still holds up well - but I'm especially looking forward to this new one.

ICO is my all time favorite game next to Chronotrigger. This really would make me spend $300 on a PS3 JUST to play this game.....I can't wait!! I seriously think I"m going to buy a ps3 just for this game.SERIOUSLY....then when I beat it I'll have a cool blu-ray player!

All I hope is that they do an ICO, SoC HiDef update and release them again with The Last Guardian.

this game IS going to be epic. cannot wait. interesting that they are still using music from millers crossing,as they did in the previous trailer.wonder if they will use it in the final game.

I don't think I want to play this game, as much as I need to play this game.

I will buy a PS3 just for this game and will play it until it's done, then turn off the PS3 and wait for their next game.

Hot damn I love Team Ico.:D

I take it you must have had to play one of their previous games to see what is so amazing about this?

If you haven't played them, then yes, a vast portion of the excitement may be lost on you.

I guess it depends on what you're not amazed by.

Last Guardian may be the game that finally makes me buy a PS3. i loved ICO and SotC. and i'm hoping Sony put both of the old games up for digital purchase since my PS2 stopped reading discs and i want to play them again.

Team ICO is such a great studio and really making games that are "art".

you might also like heavenly sword. its a highly underrated game. wicked acting ( and facial animation ), good story, and its nice because its not overly long either. somewhere between shadow of the colossus and icos length.

Be careful, the current SKU's do not support ps2 emulation (hard or soft). =(

Ueda also provided us a minor update on the future of both Shadow of the Colossus and its predecessor, Ico, on modern video game systems. Both games are considered modern classics and are at least thematically linked to Ueda and Team Ico's next project, The Last Guardian. (Read Ueda talk more about The Last Guardian.) The recent announcement of a slightly-enhanced port of the PS2 God of War games to the PS3 has compelled gamers to buzz about their hope for a similar compilation port of the PS2's Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. The developer wants it to happen too. "I do have an interest in that," Ueda said during our Friday chat. "Next week, I'll have a meeting [about the possibility] ... But it might not be so easy, because, with both titles we really stretched the limits of the PS2. It's complex. So it's not such an easy transfer to the PS3. But I want to discuss it."

right now im not too happy about the movie thing, though it would be doable with a nice budget. if its shown just like the videogame, im not sure how it would work, but if they fill in some of the backstory, and maybe expand on the villagers a bit, i think there could be enough story to make it work.

on the game side of things and porting to ps3, i would hope that at the very least they would go back and add a tiny bit more into colossus. ( texture resolution at the very least. )

some of the screenshots that were posted over the years of the monsters had some much higher textures than appeared in the final game, so id love to see that. as well as maybe going back to the environment an upping the rez of the backgrounds as well ( and maybe even the textures for the environment itself.

if they had the resources for it.. in a way, colossus deserves better than a ps2. ico works as it is ( but it would also be nice to eventually see it in a richer detailed world ), but after playing shadow i just feel how awesome it would be if it were delayed, and released on the ps3 instead.

Despite Team ICO's status in the industry, and how expectant people are of The Last Guardian, I thought it was interesting to read Inafune's comments on the future of Japanese game development at the end of the Tokyo Games Show:

"Personally when I looked around [at] all the different games at the TGS floor, I said, 'Man, Japan is over. We're done. Our game industry is finished."

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3176251

Somebody commenting on this raised a good point that in order to survive, Japanese devs have got to stop trying to ape Western developers, and hopefully Last Guardian will remind them.

This is probably going to be the best game of this console generation again - just as Ico / Shadow of the Colossus were during the PS2 era.

We haven't seen much gameplay-wise yet, but it looks a lot like Ico, yet you'll interact with the cat-thingy instead of the girl this time around. I hope they add more innovative puzzles this time around though - stepping on switches or moving boxes around isn't really 2009. They could do great stuff with physics and I'm pretty sure the added hardware power should help make it a lot easier to make the gameplay more refreshing.

Bout Shadow of the Colossus: It'd be great if they'd do the same thing as with God of War - that'd be a full price title for me, day 1. I'd be perfectly fine with just owning a PS3 for Ico, SotC and The Last Guardian. SotC on the PS2 hardware had terrible framerate drops and generally felt like it wanted to be a next gen title.

I recently started playing SotC on an emulator again and it improves the game immensly. Still, as is the case with all emulation, it's far from perfect playing it that way.

Is anyone else dreading the possibility of your giant puppy kitten bird friend dying in this? Ico and SotC are about the only games I can remember feeling genuinely sad playing at times. They both conveyed such an overwhelming sense of misfortune.

I'm just going to be distraught when I finally have to buy a PS3 for this the day it comes out, lol.

BTW, I love the stretch and the whiff on the first scratch attempt. This is going to be awesome.
