View Full Version : TP: PDeflector: box vs geometry

Hi Guys,

I'm getting strange results with PDeflector. When I use a box as deflector type, and I reduce all dynamic settings to zero, my particles stay on the surface of the box and stop moving. Which is exactly what I want to happen. When I replace the box with real geometry, the largest part of my particles keep on moving up and down. Strange, because swapping the generic box for polygonal geometry is the only thing that changes. All the other settings stay the same.

Is this a known phenomenon, or should I post a scene file to let you examine it?

And Srek: don't tell me it will be solved in 8.2, I don't want to wait another couple of weeks ;). Unless you can convince Frau Melms to send me a preliminary version of 8.2, of course :)

Kind regards,
BaRa

I found a solution to the problem. I was using geometry in an HN-object. When replacing it with subidivided geometry, the problem dissapeared. Just to show you what happened:

HN-object: http://users.pandora.be/laplacebara/terrain.mov

subdivided object: http://users.pandora.be/laplacebara/terrain_subdivided.mov

To be completely clear: I didn't use the HN-object as reference, I used the low-poly geometry. As you can cleary see, in the subdivided version all movement stops after frame 150 (the 6th second)

BaRa

now that is wierd.
so does this mean that its a bug though?
maybe it would be worth you just sending off some info to maxon in any case.

I'm actually counting on Srek to read all TP-related material on CGTalk. After all, it's "his" baby ;)

Hi Bart,
could you please send me the scene(s)?
Object collision will only work with polygon objects.
btw. check your FC account ;)

Cheers
Srek

It's on its way, Herr Marl. Thanks for the FC-mail :)
